Love and Cheer

Young singers unite to celebrate ‘Love and Cheer’ at education trust’s third Christmas concert

PERFORMERS from six primary schools across Teesside joined together to start off Christmas with a united musical extravaganza – and debut a special original song.

Children from all six schools which make up the Prince Regent Street Trust took part in third annual trust-wide Christmas musical event, held at Stockton Baptist Church.

During the show, children from each school formed a massed choir to perform an original song, titled Love and Cheer, inspired by the Trust’s values of inclusivity and openness.

The song was written by Tali Trow, musical specialist at Kader Academy, in Middlesbrough. He said: “Tonight has been a fantastic opportunity to really showcase the depth of musical talent we have across our Trust.

“It’s been a privilege to put down in words what Prince Regent Street Trust means to families across our area, and the children and the music leads have done an amazing job bringing the song to life.”

Performances were accompanied by young musicians, 11-year-old Molly Brunskill on the bass guitar, and ten-year-old Josiah Egbaiyelo on drums.

Josiah, who has played drums since he fell in love with the instrument at age four, said: “It feels good to play together with lots of other schools, and play music with my friends. It just makes me feel happy.”

Julia Armstong, chief executive of the Prince Regent Street Trust, said: “This has been a really proud moment for all of us.

“Christmas is a time we come together and celebrate the people we value, and that’s really been the spirit of this evening.

“I want to say a big thank you to Tali Trow and Victoria Emms from Kader Academy for their incredible work to make tonight happen, to the musical leads from across the Trust, and to all the amazing children who have performed tonight.

“I also want to thank Stockton Baptist Church for making us so welcome to this amazing venue.

“Merry Christmas, one and all.”
